Welcome to the official website of the ISI Satellite Conference on Improving Statistical Systems Worldwide - Building Capacity to be held in Krakow, Poland from 18 to 19 August 2011. This meeting is unique in bringing together professionals from across the disciplinary spectrum - statisticians, researchers, academics, practitioners and related experts from various institutions to share their experience, expertise and challenges.

The aim of the Satellite Conference is to focus on the recent changes of policy regarding the work on improving statistics in developing countries. The new trend is to advocate more broad changes in national statistical system, trying to address a range of shortcomings which are interlinked and therefore often cripple national statistical systems. Taking place at the institutional, organizational and management levels as well as in the financing, the process of change should include not only the national statistical office but also the statistical units in the line ministries. The conference will address these and more topics.

Not only will we have an excellent scientific program, but also offer delegates a chance to be attracted by fine cultural and historical sites of Krakow, which is the most exciting destination, especially at the end of the summer.
